Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP)

It is an economic program that provides successful candidates with a nomination for permanent residence in Canada. It consists of several streams, each with unique requirements and aimed at specific categories of candidates. The AAIP is divided into two main streams: streams for workers and streams for entrepreneurs

AAIPStreams for workers

Designed for candidates who are already working in Alberta in in the tourism and hospitality industry and received a job offer from an employer in the field. To apply, you must be working in a skilled occupation and have a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). In addition, candidates must meet minimum English or French language proficiency requirements (CLB 4 or above), have completed secondary education and have proven work experience in the chosen field.

Focused on foreign specialists who are already working in Alberta on a valid work permit and have received a job offer from an employer in a skilled profession. There are also minimum language and education requirements that vary depending on the specific position.

Provides the opportunity to nominate candidates, whose profiles in the federal Express Entry system meet the requirements and priorities of the province. Within this stream, separate categories are allocated for professionals in the areas of health care, technologies, construction, IT and police.To apply, candidates must have an active Express Entry profile and be eligible for one of the federal programs (Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, or Canadian Experience Class) and meet certain provincial occupation-specific requirements.

Aimed at attracting immigrants to remote areas Alberta. Candidates who have received a job offer from an employer in one of Alberta's remote communities may apply for nomination if they have a letter of support from the local community.  In addition, you must have a job offer from an employer in a suitable profession, pass a language test and meet additional requirements.

AAIPStreams for entrepreneurs

For entrepreneurswho want to open new business or purchase an existing one in a remote Alberta community. Candidates can submit an Expression of Interest to receive a nomination if their business initiative meets the needs of the community and the requirements of the program.

Intended for graduates of approved Alberta educational institutions who want to open or buy a business in the province.  Applicants may submit an Expression of Interest if they have a business plan and are willing to implement their project in Alberta. Requirements of this stream.

For experienced farmers who are planning to buy or start a farming business in Alberta. Applicants must demonstrate experience in agriculture, financial capabilities to develop the farm and create a business plan.

Intended for graduates, who completed their studies outside Canada and wish to establish startup or innovative enterprise in Alberta. Applicants first work with one of the approved agencies, which evaluates the business plan and provides advice on how to develop the startup. If the agency finds that the applicant and their startup meet AAIP requirements, they issue a letter of recommendation. This letter is attached to the Expression of Interest (EOI) and submitted through the AAIP portal.
