Most students are no longer required to apply for a Co-op Work Permit to complete mandatory internships (co-op or internship) as part of their program.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"363\" data-end=\"479\">This change simplifies the process and allows students to start their co-ops right away.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-time study at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI)<\/li>\n<li>A study program of at least 6 months in duration leading to a diploma, degree, or certificate<\/li>\n<li>The co-op component does not exceed 50% of the total duration of the program<\/li>\n<li>Off-campus work eligibility<\/li>\n<li>A letter from the educational institution confirming that co-op is a mandatory part of the program<\/li>\n<li>A valid Study Permit or a submitted application for an extension<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>What to do if you have already applied <\/strong><strong>for<\/strong><strong>Start<\/strong><strong>Co-op<\/strong> <strong>Work<\/strong> <strong>Permit?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you already applied for a Co-op Work Permit before the changes came into effect, you don't need to take any action. IRCC will return eligible applications.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Important to note:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>These changes do not apply to secondary school students.
