Financial requirements for federal Express Entry programs:

For successful immigration to Canada through Express Entry, you must demonstrate that you have sufficient savings to establish yourself in Canada. This is a mandatory requirement for the programs: Federal Skilled Worker (FSWP) and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). However, if you apply through Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or you have a job offer, this requirement does not apply to you.

The amount depends on the size of your family. The calculation includes you, your spouse or partner, and your and his/her “dependent children,” even if they are not immigrating with you or are already Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

  • 1 person - $14,690 CAD
  • 2 people - $18,288 CAD
  • 3 people - $22,483 CAD
  • 4 people - $27,297 CAD
  • 5 people - $30,690 CAD
  • 6 people - $34,917 CAD
  • 7 people - $38,875 CAD

For each additional family member add - $3,958 CAD

Financial requirements are updated every year, more details can be found on the IRCC website.

For confirmation, official bank letters must be provided, indicating current balances, average balance for the last 6 months, account numbers, account opening dates and contact information of the institution. Funds must be available both at the time of application and when permanent residence is granted.
