The Canadian government is considering potential major changes to the Express Entry system.
The following areas of reform are currently being discussed:
- Possible cancellation of current programs: FSW, FSTP and CEC
- Creation of a unified federal class for qualified candidates
- Revising program requirements (including a possible change to the CLB 6 or all TEER levels, eliminating the 67 selection factors for FSW, and clarifying the work experience requirements—inside or outside Canada, at least 1 year)
- Changes to the points system (possibly increasing the role of factors such as high wage, points for spouse's factors, Canadian education, French skills, and other criteria)
It is important to note that these proposals are subject to stakeholder feedback and have not yet been finalized. Current Express Entry programs continue to operate as usual at this time.
