Canada suspends applications for SUV and Self-Employed programs

On March 12, 2026, IRCC announced an intake pause for two immigration programs:StartUp Visa (SUV) and Federal Self Employed Persons Program (SEP).

 

Start-Up Visa (SUV)

• Applications submitted before January 1, 2026, will continue to be processed under the new instructions.
• Starting June 30, 2026, IRCC will stop accepting new applications.
• All applications submitted outside these parameters returned to applicants with fees..

Self-Employed Persons Program (SEP)

• The pause introduced in April 2024, extended indefinitely.
• New applications will not be accepted until further notice..
• Applications submitted before April 30, 2024will continue to be processed in accordance with existing guidance.
